The World Lokasutta
āMendicants, the world has been understood by the Realized One; āLoko, bhikkhave, tathÄgatena abhisambuddho. and he is detached from the world. LokasmÄ tathÄgato visaį¹yutto. The origin of the world has been understood by the Realized One; Lokasamudayo, bhikkhave, tathÄgatena abhisambuddho. and he has given up the origin of the world. Lokasamudayo tathÄgatassa pahÄ«no. The cessation of the world has been understood by the Realized One; Lokanirodho, bhikkhave, tathÄgatena abhisambuddho. and he has realized the cessation of the world. Lokanirodho tathÄgatassa sacchikato. The practice that leads to the cessation of the world has been understood by the Realized One; LokanirodhagÄminÄ« paį¹ipadÄ, bhikkhave, tathÄgatena abhisambuddhÄ. and he has developed the practice that leads to the cessation of the world. LokanirodhagÄminÄ« paį¹ipadÄ tathÄgatassa bhÄvitÄ.
In this worldāwith its gods, MÄras, and Divinities, this population with its ascetics and brahmins, its gods and humansāwhatever is seen, heard, thought, known, attained, sought, and explored by the mind, all that has been understood by the Realized One. Yaį¹, bhikkhave, sadevakassa lokassa samÄrakassa sabrahmakassa sassamaį¹abrÄhmaį¹iyÄ pajÄya sadevamanussÄya diį¹į¹haį¹ sutaį¹ mutaį¹ viƱƱÄtaį¹ pattaį¹ pariyesitaį¹ anuvicaritaį¹ manasÄ, sabbaį¹ taį¹ tathÄgatena abhisambuddhaį¹. Thatās why heās called the āRealized Oneā. TasmÄ ātathÄgatoāti vuccati.
From the night when the Realized One awakens to the supreme perfect awakening until the night he becomes fully extinguishedāin the element of extinguishment with no residueāeverything he speaks, says, and expresses is real, not otherwise. YaƱca, bhikkhave, rattiį¹ tathÄgato anuttaraį¹ sammÄsambodhiį¹ abhisambujjhati yaƱca rattiį¹ anupÄdisesÄya nibbÄnadhÄtuyÄ parinibbÄyati, yaį¹ etasmiį¹ antare bhÄsati lapati niddisati sabbaį¹ taį¹ tatheva hoti, no aƱƱathÄ. Thatās why heās called the āRealized Oneā. TasmÄ ātathÄgatoāti vuccati.
The Realized One does as he says, and says as he does. YathÄvÄdÄ«, bhikkhave, tathÄgato tathÄkÄrÄ«, yathÄkÄrÄ« tathÄvÄdÄ«. Since this is so, Iti yathÄvÄdÄ« tathÄkÄrÄ«, yathÄkÄrÄ« tathÄvÄdÄ«. thatās why heās called the āRealized Oneā. TasmÄ ātathÄgatoāti vuccati.
In this worldāwith its gods, MÄras, and divinities, this population with its ascetics and brahmins, gods and humansāthe Realized One is the vanquisher, the unvanquished, the universal seer, the wielder of power. Sadevake, bhikkhave, loke samÄrake sabrahmake sassamaį¹abrÄhmaį¹iyÄ pajÄya sadevamanussÄya tathÄgato abhibhÅ« anabhibhÅ«to aƱƱadatthu daso vasavattÄ«. Thatās why heās called the āRealized Oneā. TasmÄ ātathÄgatoāti vuccati.
Directly knowing the whole world as it is, Sabbaį¹ lokaį¹ abhiƱƱÄya, and everything in it, sabbaį¹ loke yathÄtathaį¹; he is detached from the whole world, Sabbaį¹ lokaį¹ visaį¹yutto, uninvolved with the whole world. sabbaloke anÅ«payo.
That attentive one is the champion Sa ve sabbÄbhibhÅ« dhÄ«ro, who is released from all ties. sabbaganthappamocano; He has reached ultimate peace: Phuį¹į¹haāssa paramÄ santi, extinguishment, fearing nothing from any quarter. nibbÄnaį¹ akutobhayaį¹.
He is the Buddha, with defilements ended, Esa khÄ«į¹Äsavo buddho, untroubled, with doubts cut off. anÄ«gho chinnasaį¹sayo; He has attained the end of all deeds, Sabbakammakkhayaį¹ patto, freed with the end of attachments. vimutto upadhisaį¹ khaye.
That Blessed One is the Buddha, Esa so bhagavÄ buddho, he is the supreme lion, esa sÄ«ho anuttaro; in all the world with its gods, Sadevakassa lokassa, he turns the divine wheel. brahmacakkaį¹ pavattayÄ«.
And so those gods and humans, Iti devÄ manussÄ ca, who have gone to the Buddha for refuge, ye buddhaį¹ saraį¹aį¹ gatÄ; come together and revere him, Saį¹ gamma taį¹ namassanti, great of heart and intrepid: mahantaį¹ vÄ«tasÄradaį¹.
āTamed, he is the best of tamers, Danto damayataį¹ seį¹į¹ho, peaceful, he is the seer among the peaceful, santo samayataį¹ isi; liberated, he is the foremost of liberators, Mutto mocayataį¹ aggo, crossed over, he is the most excellent of guides across.ā tiį¹į¹o tÄrayataį¹ varo.
And so they revere him, Iti hetaį¹ namassanti, great of heart and intrepid. mahantaį¹ vÄ«tasÄradaį¹; In the world with its gods, Sadevakasmiį¹ lokasmiį¹, he has no rival.ā natthi me paį¹ipuggaloāti.
