A person who does wrong Mātari pitari cāpi, by their mother or father, yo micchā paṭipajjati; or a Realized One, a Buddha, Tathāgate vā sambuddhe, or one of their disciples, atha vā tassa sāvake; brims with much wickedness. Bahuñca so pasavati, apuññaṁ tādiso naro.

Because of their unprincipled conduct Tāya naṁ adhammacariyāya, toward their parents, Mātāpitūsu paṇḍitā; they’re criticized in this life by the astute, Idheva naṁ garahanti, and they depart to be reborn in a place of loss. Peccāpāyañca gacchati.

A person who does right Mātari pitari cāpi, by their mother and father, yo sammā paṭipajjati; or a Realized One, a Buddha, Tathāgate vā sambuddhe, or one of their disciples, atha vā tassa sāvake; brims with much merit. Bahuñca so pasavati, puññaṁ etādiso naro.

Because of their principled conduct Tāya naṁ dhammacariyāya, toward their parents, mātāpitūsu paṇḍitā; they’re praised in this life by the astute, Idheva naṁ pasaṁsanti, and they depart to rejoice in heaven.” pecca sagge pamodatī”ti.
