Ethics Sīlasutta
āMendicants, a mendicant with five qualities is worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of veneration with joined palms, and is the supreme field of merit for the world. āPaƱcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannÄgato bhikkhu Ähuneyyo hoti pÄhuneyyo dakkhiį¹eyyo aƱjalikaraį¹Ä«yo anuttaraį¹ puƱƱakkhettaį¹ lokassa.
What five? Katamehi paƱcahi? Itās when a mendicant is accomplished in ethics, immersion, wisdom, freedom, and the knowledge and vision of freedom. Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu sÄ«lasampanno hoti, samÄdhisampanno hoti, paƱƱÄsampanno hoti, vimuttisampanno hoti, vimuttiƱÄį¹adassanasampanno hoti.
A mendicant with these five qualities is worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of veneration with joined palms, and is the supreme field of merit for the world.ā Imehi kho, bhikkhave, paƱcahi dhammehi samannÄgato bhikkhu Ähuneyyo hoti pÄhuneyyo dakkhiį¹eyyo aƱjalikaraį¹Ä«yo anuttaraį¹ puƱƱakkhettaį¹ lokassÄāti.
