Sagacity Moneyyasutta

This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard. Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:

ā€œMendicants, there are these three kinds of sagacity. ā€œTīṇimāni, bhikkhave, moneyyāni. What three? Katamāni tīṇi? Sagacity of body, speech, and mind. Kāyamoneyyaṁ, vacÄ«moneyyaṁ, manomoneyyaṁ—These are the three kinds of sagacity.ā€ imāni kho, bhikkhave, tīṇi moneyyānÄ«ā€ti. The Buddha spoke this matter. Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. On this it is said: Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:

ā€œA sage in body, a sage in speech, ā€œKāyamuniṁ vacÄ«muniṁ, a sage undefiled in mind; manomunimanāsavaṁ; a sage, blessed with sagacity, Muniṁ moneyyasampannaṁ, has washed off all bad things, they say.ā€ āhu ninhātapāpakanā€ti.

This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard. Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.

Aṭṭhamaṁ.
