Sights Rūpasutta

At Sāvatthī. Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

ā€œMendicants, desire and greed for sights, ā€œYo, bhikkhave, rÅ«pesu chandarāgo, cittasseso upakkileso. sounds, Yo saddesu … smells, yo gandhesu … tastes, yo rasesu … touches, yo phoį¹­į¹­habbesu … or ideas is a corruption of the mind. yo dhammesu chandarāgo, cittasseso upakkileso. When a mendicant has given up mental corruption in these six cases, their mind inclines to renunciation. Yato kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno imesu chasu į¹­hānesu cetaso upakkileso pahÄ«no hoti, nekkhammaninnaƱcassa cittaṁ hoti. A mind imbued with renunciation is declared to be capable of directly knowing anything that can be realized.ā€ Nekkhammaparibhāvitaṁ cittaṁ kammaniyaṁ khāyati, abhiƱƱā sacchikaraṇīyesu dhammesÅ«ā€ti.
