Feeling Vedanāsutta

At Sāvatthī. Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

ā€œMendicants, there are these three feelings. ā€œTisso imā, bhikkhave, vedanā. What three? Katamā tisso? Pleasant, painful, and neutral feeling. Sukhā vedanā, dukkhā vedanā, adukkhamasukhā vedanā—These are the three feelings. imā kho, bhikkhave, tisso vedanā.

The noble eightfold path should be developed to completely understand these three feelings. Imāsaṁ kho, bhikkhave, tissannaṁ vedanānaṁ pariƱƱāya ariyo aį¹­į¹­haį¹…giko maggo bhāvetabbo. What is the noble eightfold path? Katamo ariyo aį¹­į¹­haį¹…giko maggo? It is right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right immersion. Seyyathidaṁ—sammādiį¹­į¹­hi …pe… sammāsamādhi.

This noble eightfold path should be developed to completely understand these three feelings.ā€ Imāsaṁ kho, bhikkhave, tissannaṁ vedanānaṁ pariƱƱāya ariyo aį¹­į¹­haį¹…giko maggo bhāvetabboā€ti.
