A Saį¹ gha of a Thousand Nuns Sahassabhikkhunisaį¹ ghasutta
At one time the Buddha was staying near SÄvatthÄ« in the Royal Monastery. Ekaį¹ samayaį¹ bhagavÄ sÄvatthiyaį¹ viharati rÄjakÄrÄme. Then a Saį¹ gha of a thousand nuns went up to the Buddha, bowed, and stood to one side. The Buddha said to them: Atha kho sahassabhikkhunisaį¹ gho yena bhagavÄ tenupasaį¹ kami; upasaį¹ kamitvÄ bhagavantaį¹ abhivÄdetvÄ ekamantaį¹ aį¹į¹hÄsi. Ekamantaį¹ į¹hitÄ kho tÄ bhikkhuniyo bhagavÄ etadavoca:
āNuns, a noble disciple who has four things is a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, assured, destined for awakening. āCatÅ«hi kho, bhikkhuniyo, dhammehi samannÄgato ariyasÄvako sotÄpanno hoti avinipÄtadhammo niyato sambodhiparÄyaį¹o. Itās when a noble disciple has experiential confidence in the Buddha ⦠Idha, bhikkhuniyo, ariyasÄvako buddhe aveccappasÄdena samannÄgato hotiāitipi so bhagavÄ ā¦pe⦠satthÄ devamanussÄnaį¹ buddho bhagavÄti. the teaching ⦠Dhamme ā¦pe⦠the Saį¹ gha ⦠saį¹ ghe ā¦pe⦠And they have the ethical conduct loved by the noble ones ⦠leading to immersion. ariyakantehi sÄ«lehi samannÄgato hoti, akhaį¹įøehi ā¦pe⦠samÄdhisaį¹vattanikehi.
