“Mendicants, develop immersion. “Samādhiṁ, bhikkhave, bhāvetha. A mendicant who has immersion truly understands. Samāhito, bhikkhave, bhikkhu yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti. What do they truly understand? Kiñca yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti? They truly understand: ‘This is suffering’ … ‘This is the origin of suffering’ … ‘This is the cessation of suffering’ … ‘This is the practice that leads to the cessation of suffering’. ‘Idaṁ dukkhan’ti yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti, ‘ayaṁ dukkhasamudayo’ti yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti, ‘ayaṁ dukkhanirodho’ti yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti, ‘ayaṁ dukkhanirodhagāminī paṭipadā’ti yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti. Develop immersion. Samādhiṁ, bhikkhave, bhāvetha. A mendicant who has immersion truly understands. Samāhito, bhikkhave, bhikkhu yathābhūtaṁ pajānāti.
That’s why you should practice meditation to understand: ‘This is suffering’ … ‘This is the origin of suffering’ … ‘This is the cessation of suffering’ … ‘This is the practice that leads to the cessation of suffering’.” Tasmātiha, bhikkhave, ‘idaṁ dukkhan’ti yogo karaṇīyo, ‘ayaṁ dukkhasamudayo’ti yogo karaṇīyo, ‘ayaṁ dukkhanirodho’ti yogo karaṇīyo, ‘ayaṁ dukkhanirodhagāminī paṭipadā’ti yogo karaṇīyo”ti.
Paṭhamaṁ.
