The World Lokasutta
āMendicants, there are these four noble truths. āCattÄrimÄni, bhikkhave, ariyasaccÄni. What four? KatamÄni cattÄri? The noble truths of suffering, the origin of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the practice that leads to the cessation of suffering. Dukkhaį¹ ariyasaccaį¹, dukkhasamudayaį¹ ariyasaccaį¹, dukkhanirodhaį¹ ariyasaccaį¹, dukkhanirodhagÄminÄ« paį¹ipadÄ ariyasaccaį¹. In this world with its gods, MÄras, and Divinities, this population with its ascetics and brahmins, its gods and humans, the Realized One is the Noble One. Sadevake loke samÄrake sabrahmake sassamaį¹abrÄhmaį¹iyÄ pajÄya sadevamanussÄya tathÄgato ariyo; Thatās why theyāre called ānoble truthsā. tasmÄ āariyasaccÄnÄ«āti vuccanti.
