“Mendicants, there are these four kinds of good conduct by way of speech. “Cattārimāni, bhikkhave, vacīsucaritāni. What four? Katamāni cattāri? Speech that’s true, harmonious, gentle, and thoughtful. Saccavācā, apisuṇā vācā, saṇhā vācā, mantabhāsā—These are the four kinds of good conduct by way of speech.” Imāni kho, bhikkhave, cattāri vacīsucaritānī”ti.
