Stingy Maccharīsutta
āMendicants, there are these five drawbacks of overstaying. āPaƱcime, bhikkhave, ÄdÄ«navÄ atinivÄse. What five? Katame paƱca? You become stingy with dwellings, families, material things, praise, and the teaching. ÄvÄsamaccharÄ« hoti, kulamaccharÄ« hoti, lÄbhamaccharÄ« hoti, vaį¹į¹amaccharÄ« hoti, dhammamaccharÄ« hoti. These are the five drawbacks of overstaying. Ime kho, bhikkhave, paƱca ÄdÄ«navÄ atinivÄse.
There are these five benefits of staying for a reasonable length of time. PaƱcime, bhikkhave, Änisaį¹sÄ samavatthavÄse. What five? Katame paƱca? Youāre not stingy with dwellings, families, material things, praise, and the teaching. Na ÄvÄsamaccharÄ« hoti, na kulamaccharÄ« hoti, na lÄbhamaccharÄ« hoti, na vaį¹į¹amaccharÄ« hoti, na dhammamaccharÄ« hoti.
