A Dhamma Speaker Dhammakathikasutta

Then a mendicant went up to the Buddha, bowed, sat down to one side, and said to him: Atha kho aƱƱataro bhikkhu yena bhagavā tenupasaį¹…kami; upasaį¹…kamitvā bhagavantaṁ abhivādetvā ekamantaṁ nisÄ«di. Ekamantaṁ nisinno kho so bhikkhu bhagavantaṁ etadavoca:

ā€œSir, they speak of a ā€˜Dhamma speaker’. ā€œā€˜dhammakathiko dhammakathiko’ti, bhante, vuccati. How is a Dhamma speaker defined?ā€ Kittāvatā nu kho, bhante, dhammakathiko hotÄ«ā€ti?

ā€œIf a mendicant teaches Dhamma for disillusionment, dispassion, and cessation regarding old age and death, they’re qualified to be called ā€˜a mendicant who speaks on Dhamma’. ā€œJarāmaraṇassa ce bhikkhu nibbidāya virāgāya nirodhāya dhammaṁ deseti, ā€˜dhammakathiko bhikkhū’ti alaṁvacanāya. If they practice for disillusionment, dispassion, and cessation regarding old age and death, they’re qualified to be called ā€˜a mendicant who practices in line with the teaching’. Jarāmaraṇassa ce bhikkhu nibbidāya virāgāya nirodhāya paį¹­ipanno hoti, ā€˜dhammānudhammappaį¹­ipanno bhikkhū’ti alaṁvacanāya. If they’re freed by not grasping, by disillusionment, dispassion, and cessation regarding old age and death, they’re qualified to be called ā€˜a mendicant who has attained extinguishment in this very life’. Jarāmaraṇassa ce bhikkhu nibbidā virāgā nirodhā anupādāvimutto hoti, ā€˜diį¹­į¹­hadhammanibbānappatto bhikkhū’ti alaṁvacanāya.

If they practice for disillusionment, dispassion, and cessation regarding ignorance, they’re qualified to be called ā€˜a mendicant who practices in line with the teaching’.
