Then a mendicant went up to the Buddha ⦠and asked him, Atha kho aƱƱataro bhikkhu ā¦pe⦠ekamantaį¹ nisinno kho so bhikkhu bhagavantaį¹ etadavoca: āSir, may the Buddha please teach me Dhamma in brief. When Iāve heard it, Iāll live alone, withdrawn, diligent, keen, and resolute.ā āsÄdhu me, bhante, bhagavÄ saį¹ khittena dhammaį¹ desetu ā¦pe⦠ÄtÄpÄ« pahitatto vihareyyanāti.
āMendicant, give up desire for what is not-self.ā āYo kho, bhikkhu, anattÄ; tatra te chando pahÄtabboāti.
āUnderstood, Blessed One! Understood, Holy One!ā āAƱƱÄtaį¹, bhagavÄ, aƱƱÄtaį¹, sugatÄāti.
