The Perfected Ones Arahantasutta

āMendicants, form is impermanent. āRÅ«paį¹, bhikkhave, aniccaį¹. Whatās impermanent is suffering. Yadaniccaį¹ taį¹ dukkhaį¹; Whatās suffering is not-self. yaį¹ dukkhaį¹ tadanattÄ; And whatās not-self should be truly seen with right understanding like this: āThis is not mine, I am not this, this is not my self.ā yadanattÄ taį¹ ānetaį¹ mama, nesohamasmi, na meso attÄāti evametaį¹ yathÄbhÅ«taį¹ sammappaƱƱÄya daį¹į¹habbaį¹.

Consciousness is impermanent. viƱƱÄį¹aį¹ aniccaį¹. Whatās impermanent is suffering. Seeing this, a learned noble disciple grows disillusioned with form, feeling, perception, choices, and consciousness. Evaį¹ passaį¹, bhikkhave, sutavÄ ariyasÄvako rÅ«pasmimpi nibbindati, vedanÄyapi ⦠saƱƱÄyapi ⦠saį¹ khÄresupi ⦠viƱƱÄį¹asmimpi nibbindati. Being disillusioned, desire fades away. When desire fades away theyāre freed. When theyāre freed, they know theyāre freed. Nibbindaį¹ virajjati; virÄgÄ vimuccati. Vimuttasmiį¹ vimuttamiti ƱÄį¹aį¹ hoti.
They understand: āRebirth is ended, the spiritual journey has been completed, what had to be done has been done, there is nothing further for this place.ā āKhÄ«į¹Ä jÄti, vusitaį¹ brahmacariyaį¹, kataį¹ karaį¹Ä«yaį¹, nÄparaį¹ itthattÄyÄāti pajÄnÄti. As far as there are abodes of sentient beings, even up until the pinnacle of existence, the perfected ones are the foremost and the best.ā YÄvatÄ, bhikkhave, sattÄvÄsÄ, yÄvatÄ bhavaggaį¹, ete aggÄ, ete seį¹į¹hÄ lokasmiį¹ yadidaį¹ arahantoāti.
That is what the Buddha said. Idamavoca bhagavÄ. Then the Holy One, the Teacher, went on to say: Idaį¹ vatvÄna sugato athÄparaį¹ etadavoca satthÄ:
āOh! How happy are the perfected ones! āSukhino vata arahanto, Craving is not found in them, taį¹hÄ tesaį¹ na vijjati; the conceit āI amā is cut off, AsmimÄno samucchinno, and the net of delusion is shattered. mohajÄlaį¹ padÄlitaį¹.
Theyāve attained imperturbability, Anejaį¹ te anuppattÄ, their minds are unclouded, cittaį¹ tesaį¹ anÄvilaį¹; nothing in the world clings to them, Loke anupalittÄ te, manifesting divinity, undefiled. brahmabhÅ«tÄ anÄsavÄ.
Completely understanding the five aggregates, PaƱcakkhandhe pariƱƱÄya, their domain is the seven good qualities. satta saddhammagocarÄ; Those true persons are praiseworthy, Pasaį¹siyÄ sappurisÄ, the Buddhaās true-born sons. puttÄ buddhassa orasÄ.
Endowed with the seven gems, SattaratanasampannÄ, and trained in the three trainings, TÄ«su sikkhÄsu sikkhitÄ; the great heroes live on, Anuvicaranti mahÄvÄ«rÄ, with fear and dread given up. PahÄ«nabhayabheravÄ.
Endowed with ten factors, Dasahaį¹ gehi sampannÄ, those giants have immersion. mahÄnÄgÄ samÄhitÄ; These are the best in the world, Ete kho seį¹į¹hÄ lokasmiį¹, craving is not found in them. taį¹hÄ tesaį¹ na vijjati.
The adeptās knowledge has arisen: AsekhaƱÄį¹amuppannaį¹, āThis bag of bones is my last.ā antimoyaį¹ samussayo; They are independent of others Yo sÄro brahmacariyassa, in the core of the spiritual path. tasmiį¹ aparapaccayÄ.
Unwavering in the face of discriminations, VidhÄsu na vikampanti, theyāre freed from future lives. vippamuttÄ punabbhavÄ; Theyāve reached the level of the tamed, DantabhÅ«mimanuppattÄ, in the world, theyāre the winners. te loke vijitÄvino.
Above, below, all round, Uddhaį¹ tiriyaį¹ apÄcÄ«naį¹, relishing is not found in them. nandÄ« tesaį¹ na vijjati; They roar their lionās roar: Nadanti te sÄ«hanÄdaį¹, āThe awakened are supreme in the world!āā buddhÄ loke anuttarÄāti.
