Tendencies Anusayasutta

ā€œMendicants, there are these seven underlying tendencies. ā€œSattime, bhikkhave, anusayā. What seven? Katame satta? The underlying tendencies of sensual desire, repulsion, views, doubt, conceit, desire to be reborn, and ignorance. Kāmarāgānusayo, paį¹­ighānusayo, diį¹­į¹­hānusayo, vicikicchānusayo, mānānusayo, bhavarāgānusayo, avijjānusayo—These are the seven underlying tendencies. ime kho, bhikkhave, sattānusayā.

The noble eightfold path should be developed for the direct knowledge, complete understanding, finishing, and giving up of these seven underlying tendencies.ā€ Imesaṁ kho, bhikkhave, sattannaṁ anusayānaṁ abhiƱƱāya pariƱƱāya parikkhayāya pahānāya …pe… ayaṁ ariyo aį¹­į¹­haį¹…giko maggo bhāvetabboā€ti.
