A Stream-Enterer Sotāpannasutta

ā€œMendicants, there are these five faculties. ā€œPaƱcimāni, bhikkhave, indriyāni. What five? Katamāni paƱca? The faculties of pleasure, pain, happiness, sadness, and equanimity. Sukhindriyaṁ, dukkhindriyaṁ, somanassindriyaṁ, domanassindriyaṁ, upekkhindriyaṁ. A noble disciple comes to truly understand these five faculties’ origin, disappearance, gratification, drawback, and escape. Yato kho, bhikkhave, ariyasāvako imesaṁ paƱcannaṁ indriyānaṁ samudayaƱca atthaį¹…gamaƱca assādaƱca ādÄ«navaƱca nissaraṇaƱca yathābhÅ«taṁ pajānāti—Such a noble disciple is called a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, bound for awakening.ā€ ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, ariyasāvako sotāpanno avinipātadhammo niyato sambodhiparāyaṇoā€ti.
