Ending of Defilements Āsavakkhayasutta

ā€œMendicants, when these five faculties are developed and cultivated they lead to the ending of defilements. ā€œPaƱcimāni, bhikkhave, indriyāni bhāvitāni bahulÄ«katāni āsavānaṁ khayāya saṁvattanti. What five? Katamāni paƱca? The faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, immersion, and wisdom. Saddhindriyaṁ …pe… paƱƱindriyaṁ—When these five faculties are developed and cultivated they lead to the ending of defilements.ā€ imāni kho, bhikkhave, paƱcindriyāni bhāvitāni bahulÄ«katāni āsavānaṁ khayāya saṁvattantÄ«ti.

ā€œMendicants, when these five faculties are developed and cultivated they lead to giving up the fetters, uprooting the underlying tendencies, completely understanding the course of time, and ending the defilements. PaƱcimāni, bhikkhave, indriyāni bhāvitāni bahulÄ«katāni saṁyojanappahānāya saṁvattanti, anusayasamugghātāya saṁvattanti, addhānapariƱƱāya saṁvattanti, āsavānaṁ khayāya saṁvattanti. What five?
