With Nandiya Nandiyasutta

At Kapilavatthu. Kapilavatthunidānaṁ. Seated to one side, the Buddha said to Nandiya the Sakyan: Ekamantaṁ nisinnaṁ kho nandiyaṁ sakkaṁ bhagavā etadavoca:

ā€œNandiya, a noble disciple who has four things is a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, assured, destined for awakening. ā€œcatÅ«hi kho, nandiya, dhammehi samannāgato ariyasāvako sotāpanno hoti avinipātadhammo niyato sambodhiparāyaṇo.

What four? Katamehi catÅ«hi? It’s when a noble disciple has experiential confidence in the Buddha … Idha, nandiya, ariyasāvako buddhe aveccappasādena samannāgato hoti—itipi so bhagavā …pe… satthā devamanussānaṁ buddho bhagavāti. the teaching … Dhamme …pe… the Saį¹…gha … saį¹…ghe …pe… And they have the ethical conduct loved by the noble ones … leading to immersion. ariyakantehi sÄ«lehi samannāgato hoti akhaį¹‡įøehi …pe… samādhisaṁvattanikehi. A noble disciple who has these four things is a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, assured, destined for awakening.ā€ Imehi kho, nandiya, catÅ«hi dhammehi samannāgato ariyasāvako sotāpanno hoti avinipātadhammo niyato sambodhiparāyaṇoā€ti.
