At Kapilavatthu. KapilavatthunidÄnaį¹. Seated to one side, the Buddha said to Nandiya the Sakyan: Ekamantaį¹ nisinnaį¹ kho nandiyaį¹ sakkaį¹ bhagavÄ etadavoca:
āNandiya, a noble disciple who has four things is a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, assured, destined for awakening. ācatÅ«hi kho, nandiya, dhammehi samannÄgato ariyasÄvako sotÄpanno hoti avinipÄtadhammo niyato sambodhiparÄyaį¹o.
What four? Katamehi catÅ«hi? Itās when a noble disciple has experiential confidence in the Buddha ā¦ Idha, nandiya, ariyasÄvako buddhe aveccappasÄdena samannÄgato hotiāitipi so bhagavÄ ā¦peā¦ satthÄ devamanussÄnaį¹ buddho bhagavÄti. the teaching ā¦ Dhamme ā¦peā¦ the Saį¹ gha ā¦ saį¹ ghe ā¦peā¦ And they have the ethical conduct loved by the noble ones ā¦ leading to immersion. ariyakantehi sÄ«lehi samannÄgato hoti akhaį¹įøehi ā¦peā¦ samÄdhisaį¹vattanikehi.
