Putrefaction Ämagandhasutta
āThe good eat properly obtained āSÄmÄkaciį¹ gÅ«lakacÄ«nakÄni ca, millet, wild grains, broomcorn, Pattapphalaį¹ mÅ«laphalaį¹ gavipphalaį¹; greens, tubers, and squashes. Dhammena laddhaį¹ satamasnamÄnÄ, They donāt lie to get what they want. Na kÄmakÄmÄ alikaį¹ bhaį¹anti.

People here with unbridled sensuality, Ye idha kÄmesu asaƱƱatÄ janÄ, greedy for tastes, mixed up in impurity, Rasesu giddhÄ asucibhÄvamassitÄ; nihilists, immoral, intractable: Natthikadiį¹į¹hÄ« visamÄ durannayÄ, this is putrefaction, not eating meat. EsÄmagandho na hi maį¹sabhojanaį¹.
Tough, callous calumniators, Ye lÅ«khasÄ dÄruį¹Ä piį¹į¹himaį¹sikÄ, pitiless and arrogant betrayers of friends, Mittadduno nikkaruį¹ÄtimÄnino; misers who never give anything: AdÄnasÄ«lÄ na ca denti kassaci, this is putrefaction, not eating meat. EsÄmagandho na hi maį¹sabhojanaį¹.
Anger, vanity, obstinacy, contrariness, Kodho mado thambho paccupaį¹į¹hÄpanÄ, deceit, jealousy, boastfulness, MÄyÄ usÅ«yÄ bhassasamussayo ca; haughtiness, intimacy with the wicked: MÄnÄtimÄno ca asabbhi santhavo, this is putrefaction, not eating meat. EsÄmagandho na hi maį¹sabhojanaį¹.
The ill-behaved, debt-evaders, informants, Ye pÄpasÄ«lÄ iį¹aghÄtasÅ«cakÄ, business cheats and con-artists, VohÄrakÅ«į¹Ä idha pÄį¹irÅ«pikÄ; vile men committing sin: NarÄdhamÄ yedha karonti kibbisaį¹, this is putrefaction, not eating meat. EsÄmagandho na hi maį¹sabhojanaį¹.
People here who canāt stop harming living creatures, Ye idha pÄį¹esu asaƱƱatÄ janÄ, taking from others, intent on hurting, ParesamÄdÄya vihesamuyyutÄ; immoral, cruel, harsh, lacking regard for others: DussÄ«laluddÄ pharusÄ anÄdarÄ, this is putrefaction, not eating meat. EsÄmagandho na hi maį¹sabhojanaį¹.
Greedy, hostile, aggressive to others, Etesu giddhÄ viruddhÄtipÄtino, and addicted to evilā
those beings pass into darkness,
NiccuyyutÄ pecca tamaį¹ vajanti ye; falling headlong into hell: Patanti sattÄ nirayaį¹ avaį¹sirÄ, this is putrefaction, not eating meat. wander with faculties conquered,
