Uttarā (2nd) Uttarātherīgāthā

“Taking a pestle, “Musalāni gahetvāna, young men pound grain. dhaññaṁ koṭṭenti māṇavā; Providing for partners and children, Puttadārāni posentā, young men acquire wealth. dhanaṁ vindanti māṇavā.

Work at the Buddha’s bidding, Ghaṭetha buddhasāsane, you won’t regret it. yaṁ katvā nānutappati; Having quickly washed your feet, Khippaṁ pādāni dhovitvā, sit in a discreet place to meditate. ekamantaṁ nisīdatha.

Establish the mind, Cittaṁ upaṭṭhapetvāna, unified and serene. ekaggaṁ susamāhitaṁ; Examine conditions Paccavekkhatha saṅkhāre, as other, not as self.” parato no ca attato”.

“After hearing her words, “Tassāhaṁ vacanaṁ sutvā, the instructions of Paṭācārā, paṭācārānusāsaniṁ; I washed my feet Pāde pakkhālayitvāna, and retired to a discreet place. ekamante upāvisiṁ.

In the first watch of the night, Rattiyā purime yāme, I recollected my past lives. pubbajātimanussariṁ; In the middle watch of the night, Rattiyā majjhime yāme, I purified my clairvoyance. dibbacakkhuṁ visodhayiṁ.

In the last watch of the night, Rattiyā pacchime yāme, I shattered the mass of darkness. tamokhandhaṁ padālayiṁ; I rose up master of the three knowledges: Tevijjā atha vuṭṭhāsiṁ, your bidding has been done. katā te anusāsanī.

I shall abide honoring you Sakkaṁva devā tidasā, as the Thirty gods honor Sakka, saṅgāme aparājitaṁ; undefeated in battle. Purakkhatvā vihassāmi, Master of the three knowledges, <j>I am free of defilements.” tevijjāmhi anāsavā”.
