Higher Fetters Uddhambhāgiyasutta

ā€œMendicants, there are five higher fetters. ā€œPaƱcimāni, bhikkhave, uddhambhāgiyāni saṁyojanāni. What five? Katamāni paƱca? Desire for rebirth in the realm of luminous form, desire for rebirth in the formless realm, conceit, restlessness, and ignorance. RÅ«parāgo, arÅ«parāgo, māno, uddhaccaṁ, avijjā—These are the five higher fetters. imāni kho, bhikkhave, paƱcuddhambhāgiyāni saṁyojanāni.

To give up these five higher fetters you should develop the four kinds of mindfulness meditation. ā€¦ā€ Imesaṁ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcannaṁ uddhambhāgiyānaṁ saṁyojanānaṁ pahānāya …pe… ime cattāro satipaį¹­į¹­hānā bhāvetabbÄā€ti.
