Very Helpful Bahukārasutta

This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard. Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:

ā€œMendicants, brahmins and householders are very helpful to you, as they provide you with robes, almsfood, lodgings, and medicines and supplies for the sick. ā€œBahukārā, bhikkhave, brāhmaṇagahapatikā tumhākaṁ ye vo paccupaį¹į¹hitā cÄ«varapiį¹‡įøapātasenāsanagilānapaccayabhesajjaparikkhārehi. And you are very helpful to brahmins and householders, as you teach them the Dhamma that’s good in the beginning, good in the middle, and good in the end, meaningful and well-phrased. And you reveal a spiritual practice that’s entirely full and pure. Tumhepi, bhikkhave, bahukārā brāhmaṇagahapatikānaṁ yaṁ nesaṁ dhammaṁ desetha ādikalyāṇaṁ majjhekalyāṇaṁ pariyosānakalyāṇaṁ sātthaṁ sabyaƱjanaṁ, kevalaparipuṇṇaṁ parisuddhaṁ brahmacariyaṁ pakāsetha. That is how this spiritual path is lived supporting each other in order to cross over the flood and make a complete end of suffering.ā€ Evamidaṁ, bhikkhave, aƱƱamaƱƱaṁ nissāya brahmacariyaṁ vussati oghassa nittharaṇatthāya sammā dukkhassa antakiriyāyāā€ti.

The Buddha spoke this matter. Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. On this it is said: Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:

ā€œThe home-dweller and the homeless, ā€œSāgārā anagārā ca, supporting each other, ubho aƱƱoƱƱanissitā; find success in the true teaching, Ārādhayanti saddhammaṁ, the supreme sanctuary from the yoke. yogakkhemaṁ anuttaraṁ.

The homeless receive requisites Sāgāresu ca cīvaraṁ, from the home-dwellers: paccayaṁ sayanāsanaṁ; robes and lodgings Anagārā paṭicchanti, to shelter from harsh conditions. parissayavinodanaṁ.

Relying on the Holy One, Sugataṁ pana nissāya, layfolk and householders of discernment gahaṭṭhā gharamesino; place faith in the perfected ones, Saddahānā arahataṁ, meditators of noble wisdom. ariyapaññāya jhāyino.

Having practiced the teaching here, Idha dhammaṁ caritvāna, the path that goes to a good place, maggaṁ sugatigāminaṁ; they delight in the heavenly realm, Nandino devalokasmiṁ, enjoying all the pleasures they desire.ā€ modanti kāmakāminoā€ti.

This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard. Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
