The Eye Cakkhusutta
This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard. VuttaƱhetaį¹ bhagavatÄ vuttamarahatÄti me sutaį¹:
āMendicants, there are these three eyes. āTÄ«į¹imÄni, bhikkhave, cakkhÅ«ni. What three? KatamÄni tÄ«į¹i? The eye of the flesh, the eye of clairvoyance, and the eye of wisdom. Maį¹sacakkhu, dibbacakkhu, paƱƱÄcakkhuāThese are the three eyes.ā imÄni kho, bhikkhave, tÄ«į¹i cakkhÅ«nÄ«āti.
The Buddha spoke this matter. Etamatthaį¹ bhagavÄ avoca. On this it is said: Tatthetaį¹ iti vuccati:
āThe eye of flesh, the clairvoyant eye, āMaį¹sacakkhu dibbacakkhu, the supreme eye of wisdom: paƱƱÄcakkhu anuttaraį¹; these three eyes EtÄni tÄ«į¹i cakkhÅ«ni, were taught by the supreme person. akkhÄsi purisuttamo.
The arising of the eye of flesh Maį¹sacakkhussa uppÄdo, is the path to the clairvoyant eye. maggo dibbassa cakkhuno; When knowledge arisesāYato ƱÄį¹aį¹ udapÄdi, the supreme eye of wisdomāpaƱƱÄcakkhu anuttaraį¹; one who gains that eye Yassa cakkhussa paį¹ilÄbhÄ, is released from all suffering.ā sabbadukkhÄ pamuccatÄ«āti.
