This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard. Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:

“Mendicants, there are these three eyes. “Tīṇimāni, bhikkhave, cakkhūni. What three? Katamāni tīṇi? The eye of the flesh, the eye of clairvoyance, and the eye of wisdom. Maṁsacakkhu, dibbacakkhu, paññācakkhu—These are the three eyes.” imāni kho, bhikkhave, tīṇi cakkhūnī”ti.

The Buddha spoke this matter. Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. On this it is said: Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:

“The eye of flesh, the clairvoyant eye, “Maṁsacakkhu dibbacakkhu, the supreme eye of wisdom: paññācakkhu anuttaraṁ; these three eyes Etāni tīṇi cakkhūni, were taught by the supreme person. akkhāsi purisuttamo.

The arising of the eye of flesh Maṁsacakkhussa uppādo, is the path to the clairvoyant eye. maggo dibbassa cakkhuno; When knowledge arises—Yato ñāṇaṁ udapādi, the supreme eye of wisdom—paññācakkhu anuttaraṁ; one who gains that eye Yassa cakkhussa paṭilābhā, is released from all suffering.” sabbadukkhā pamuccatī”ti.
