This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard. VuttaƱhetaį¹ bhagavatÄ vuttamarahatÄti me sutaį¹:
āMendicants, there are these three kinds of bad conduct. āTÄ«į¹imÄni, bhikkhave, duccaritÄni. What three? KatamÄni tÄ«į¹i? Bad conduct by way of body, speech, and mind. KÄyaduccaritaį¹, vacÄ«duccaritaį¹, manoduccaritaį¹āThese are the three kinds of bad conduct.ā imÄni kho, bhikkhave, tÄ«į¹i duccaritÄnÄ«āti.
The Buddha spoke this matter. Etamatthaį¹ bhagavÄ avoca. On this it is said: Tatthetaį¹ iti vuccati:
āHaving done bad things āKÄyaduccaritaį¹ katvÄ, by way of body, vacÄ«duccaritÄni ca; speech, and mind, Manoduccaritaį¹ katvÄ, and whatever else is corrupt; yaƱcaƱƱaį¹ dosasaį¹hitaį¹.
not having done good deeds, AkatvÄ kusalaį¹ kammaį¹, and having done many bad, katvÄnÄkusalaį¹ bahuį¹; when their body breaks up, that witless person KÄyassa bhedÄ duppaƱƱo, is reborn in hell.ā nirayaį¹ sopapajjatÄ«āti.
This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard. Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatÄ, iti me sutanti.
