This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard. Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:

“Mendicants, there are these three kinds of bad conduct. “Tīṇimāni, bhikkhave, duccaritāni. What three? Katamāni tīṇi? Bad conduct by way of body, speech, and mind. Kāyaduccaritaṁ, vacīduccaritaṁ, manoduccaritaṁ—These are the three kinds of bad conduct.” imāni kho, bhikkhave, tīṇi duccaritānī”ti.

The Buddha spoke this matter. Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. On this it is said: Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:

“Having done bad things “Kāyaduccaritaṁ katvā, by way of body, vacīduccaritāni ca; speech, and mind, Manoduccaritaṁ katvā, and whatever else is corrupt; yañcaññaṁ dosasaṁhitaṁ.

not having done good deeds, Akatvā kusalaṁ kammaṁ, and having done many bad, katvānākusalaṁ bahuṁ; when their body breaks up, that witless person Kāyassa bhedā duppañño, is reborn in hell.” nirayaṁ sopapajjatī”ti.

This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard. Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
