This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard. Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:

“Mendicants, there are these kinds of good conduct. “Tīṇimāni, bhikkhave, sucaritāni. What three? Katamāni tīṇi? Good conduct by way of body, speech, and mind. Kāyasucaritaṁ, vacīsucaritaṁ, manosucaritaṁ—These are the three kinds of good conduct.” imāni kho, bhikkhave, tīṇi sucaritānī”ti. The Buddha spoke this matter. Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. On this it is said: Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:

“Having given up bad conduct “Kāyaduccaritaṁ hitvā, by way of body, vacīduccaritāni ca; speech, and mind, Manoduccaritaṁ hitvā, and whatever else is corrupt; yañcaññaṁ dosasaṁhitaṁ.

not having done bad deeds, Akatvākusalaṁ kammaṁ, and having done many good, katvāna kusalaṁ bahuṁ; when their body breaks up, that wise person Kāyassa bhedā sappañño, is reborn in heaven.” saggaṁ so upapajjatī”ti.

This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard. Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
