Good Conduct Sucaritasutta

This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard. Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:

ā€œMendicants, there are these kinds of good conduct. ā€œTīṇimāni, bhikkhave, sucaritāni. What three? Katamāni tīṇi? Good conduct by way of body, speech, and mind. Kāyasucaritaṁ, vacÄ«sucaritaṁ, manosucaritaṁ—These are the three kinds of good conduct.ā€ imāni kho, bhikkhave, tīṇi sucaritānÄ«ā€ti. The Buddha spoke this matter. Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. On this it is said: Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:

ā€œHaving given up bad conduct ā€œKāyaduccaritaṁ hitvā, by way of body, vacÄ«duccaritāni ca; speech, and mind, Manoduccaritaṁ hitvā, and whatever else is corrupt; yaƱcaƱƱaṁ dosasaṁhitaṁ.

not having done bad deeds, Akatvākusalaṁ kammaṁ, and having done many good, katvāna kusalaṁ bahuṁ; when their body breaks up, that wise person Kāyassa bhedā sappaƱƱo, is reborn in heaven.ā€ saggaṁ so upapajjatÄ«ā€ti.

This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard. Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.

Chaṭṭhaṁ.
