Good Conduct Sucaritasutta
This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard. VuttaƱhetaį¹ bhagavatÄ vuttamarahatÄti me sutaį¹:
āMendicants, there are these kinds of good conduct. āTÄ«į¹imÄni, bhikkhave, sucaritÄni. What three? KatamÄni tÄ«į¹i? Good conduct by way of body, speech, and mind. KÄyasucaritaį¹, vacÄ«sucaritaį¹, manosucaritaį¹āThese are the three kinds of good conduct.ā imÄni kho, bhikkhave, tÄ«į¹i sucaritÄnÄ«āti. The Buddha spoke this matter. Etamatthaį¹ bhagavÄ avoca. On this it is said: Tatthetaį¹ iti vuccati:
āHaving given up bad conduct āKÄyaduccaritaį¹ hitvÄ, by way of body, vacÄ«duccaritÄni ca; speech, and mind, Manoduccaritaį¹ hitvÄ, and whatever else is corrupt; yaƱcaƱƱaį¹ dosasaį¹hitaį¹.
not having done bad deeds, AkatvÄkusalaį¹ kammaį¹, and having done many good, katvÄna kusalaį¹ bahuį¹; when their body breaks up, that wise person KÄyassa bhedÄ sappaƱƱo, is reborn in heaven.ā saggaį¹ so upapajjatÄ«āti.
This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard. Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatÄ, iti me sutanti.
