Plain Version Suddhikasutta

At Sāvatthī. Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

ā€œMendicants, I will teach you about the gods of the clouds. ā€œValāhakakāyike vo, bhikkhave, deve desessāmi. Listen … Taṁ suṇātha.

And what are the gods of the clouds? Katame ca, bhikkhave, valāhakakāyikā devā? There are gods of the cool clouds, Santi, bhikkhave, sÄ«tavalāhakā devā; warm clouds, santi uṇhavalāhakā devā; thunder clouds, santi abbhavalāhakā devā; windy clouds, santi vātavalāhakā devā; and rainy clouds. santi vassavalāhakā devā—These are called the gods of the clouds.ā€ ime vuccanti, bhikkhave, ā€˜valāhakakāyikā devÄā€™ā€ti.
