Nandaka (1st) Nandakattheragāthā

Though a fine thoroughbred may stumble, “Yathāpi bhaddo ājañño, it soon stands firm again. khalitvā patitiṭṭhati; It gains even more urgency, Bhiyyo laddhāna saṁvegaṁ, and draws its load undeterred. adīno vahate dhuraṁ.

Even so is one accomplished in vision, Evaṁ dassanasampannaṁ, a disciple of the Buddha. sammāsambuddhasāvakaṁ; Remember me as a thoroughbred, Ājānīyaṁ maṁ dhāretha, the Buddha’s rightful son. puttaṁ buddhassa orasan”ti.
