77 77

ā€œBad, unskillful qualities, mendicants, arise with a basis, not without a basis. ā€œSanimittā, bhikkhave, uppajjanti pāpakā akusalā dhammā, no animittā. By giving up that basis, those bad, unskillful qualities do not occur.ā€ Tasseva nimittassa pahānā evaṁ te pāpakā akusalā dhammā na hontÄ«ā€ti.

ā€œBad, unskillful qualities, mendicants, arise with a source, not without a source. ā€œSanidānā, bhikkhave, uppajjanti pāpakā akusalā dhammā, no anidānā. By giving up that source, those bad, unskillful qualities do not occur.ā€ Tasseva nidānassa pahānā evaṁ te pāpakā akusalā dhammā na hontÄ«ā€ti.

ā€œBad, unskillful qualities, mendicants, arise with a cause, not without a cause. ā€œSahetukā, bhikkhave, uppajjanti pāpakā akusalā dhammā, no ahetukā. By giving up that cause, those bad, unskillful qualities do not occur.ā€ Tasseva hetussa pahānā evaṁ te pāpakā akusalā dhammā na hontÄ«ā€ti.

ā€œBad, unskillful qualities, mendicants, arise with conditions, not without conditions. ā€œSasaį¹…khārā, bhikkhave, uppajjanti pāpakā akusalā dhammā, no asaį¹…khārā. By giving up those conditions, those bad, unskillful qualities do not occur.ā€ Tesaṁyeva saį¹…khārānaṁ pahānā evaṁ te pāpakā akusalā dhammā na hontÄ«ā€ti.

ā€œBad, unskillful qualities, mendicants, arise with a reason, not without a reason. ā€œSappaccayā, bhikkhave, uppajjanti pāpakā akusalā dhammā, no appaccayā. By giving up that reason, those bad, unskillful qualities do not occur.ā€ Tasseva paccayassa pahānā evaṁ te pāpakā akusalā dhammā na hontÄ«ā€ti.

ā€œBad, unskillful qualities, mendicants, arise with form, not without form. ā€œSarÅ«pā, bhikkhave, uppajjanti pāpakā akusalā dhammā, no arÅ«pā. By giving up that form, those bad, unskillful qualities do not occur.ā€ Tasseva rÅ«passa pahānā evaṁ te pāpakā akusalā dhammā na hontÄ«ā€ti.

ā€œBad, unskillful qualities, mendicants, arise with feeling, not without feeling. ā€œSavedanā, bhikkhave, uppajjanti pāpakā akusalā dhammā, no avedanā. By giving up that feeling, those bad, unskillful qualities do not occur.ā€ Tassāyeva vedanāya pahānā evaṁ te pāpakā akusalā dhammā na hontÄ«ā€ti.

ā€œBad, unskillful qualities, mendicants, arise with perception, not without perception. ā€œSasaƱƱā, bhikkhave, uppajjanti pāpakā akusalā dhammā, no asaƱƱā. By giving up that perception, those bad, unskillful qualities do not occur.ā€ Tassāyeva saƱƱāya pahānā evaṁ te pāpakā akusalā dhammā na hontÄ«ā€ti.

ā€œBad, unskillful qualities, mendicants, arise with consciousness, not without consciousness. ā€œSaviññāṇā, bhikkhave, uppajjanti pāpakā akusalā dhammā, no aviññāṇā. By giving up that consciousness, those bad, unskillful qualities do not occur.ā€ Tasseva viññāṇassa pahānā evaṁ te pāpakā akusalā dhammā na hontÄ«ā€ti.

ā€œBad, unskillful qualities, mendicants, arise with a conditioned basis, not without a conditioned basis. ā€œSaį¹…khatārammaṇā, bhikkhave, uppajjanti pāpakā akusalā dhammā, no asaį¹…khatārammaṇā. By giving up that conditioned basis, those bad, unskillful qualities do not occur.ā€ Tasseva saį¹…khatassa pahānā evaṁ te pāpakā akusalā dhammā na hontÄ«ā€ti.
